Alexandra H. Deal

Alexandra H. Deal joined the firm in 2005. Her areas of practice include criminal defense, employment law and litigation, environmental litigation, and general civil litigation.  Ms. Deal represents clients in both state and federal court, as well as in various administrative agencies. 

Ms. Deal specializes in handling both civil and criminal appeals.  She has extensive experience in criminal post-conviction proceedings, including motions for new trial and direct appeals, in both state and federal criminal matters.  In 2011, Ms. Deal won reversal of her client’s conviction for attempted kidnapping in Commonwealth v. Rivera, 460 Mass. 139 (2011).

Ms. Deal was named by Massachusetts Super Lawyers to its Rising Star list in 2009, 2010, and 2011.  She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. 

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Deal serves as an adjunct faculty member at New England School of Law, where her classes have included Appellate Advocacy and First Amendment law (with a focus on freedom of expression).

Before joining the firm, Ms. Deal clerked for the Honorable John A. Terry at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. She graduated from Cornell University in 2000 with distinction in all subjects, and received her J.D., with honors, from Boston College Law School in 2004.  Prior to law school, Ms. Deal was a public relations associate and disc jockey in Burlington, VT.
