John Cushman

John Cushman joined the firm in 2011. He works on a wide variety of civil and criminal matters, with a focus on appeals. Prior to joining the firm, he ran a solo practice as John Cushman, Attorney at Law, where he handled appeals on topics including assault and battery, probation violation, alimony modification, and malicious prosecution. In Finch v. Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority, he drafted significant portions of the brief persuading the Supreme Judicial Court to grant strict scrutiny protection to legal immigrants in Massachusetts.

Mr. Cushman clerked for Justice Margot Botsford of the Supreme Judicial Court from 2008 to 2009. He graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in 2008, and from Simon’s Rock College of Bard with a degree in electronic media in 2003. He serves on the board of the Supreme Judicial Court Law Clerks’ Society and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
